Your iPhone is cracked, slow or dying fast. Do you repair it or upgrade? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but a few questions make the decision easy.
Question 1: How old is the phone?
Apple supports iPhones with iOS updates for many years. If your phone still gets updates and runs the apps you need, repair usually makes sense. If it no longer receives updates, upgrading may be the smarter long-term move.
Question 2: What’s broken?
- Cracked screen or weak battery: almost always worth repairing—these are the most common and cost-effective fixes. See iPhone screen repair and battery replacement.
- Charging port or speaker: also routine and usually worth it.
- Serious water damage or board failure: may cost more than the phone is worth.
Question 3: Does the math work?
A simple rule: if the repair costs less than about half the value of the phone after it’s fixed, repair it. Ask for a quote first—at Telasco we’ll tell you honestly if a repair isn’t worth it.
Question 4: What’s your phone worth?
A working iPhone holds value surprisingly well. Fixing a cracked screen can increase its trade-in or resale value. If you’re upgrading, we buy used iPhones—even damaged ones.
If you decide to upgrade
Consider a tested pre-owned iPhone—you get most of the performance for less. Pair it with a prepaid plan and protect it with a case and screen protector from our accessories section.
