Few things are more stressful than plugging in your phone and seeing… nothing. Before assuming the worst, try these fixes. Many charging problems are simple.
1. Try a different cable and adapter
Cables fail far more often than phones. Test with a cable and adapter you know works. Cheap cables can also damage charging circuits—choose certified ones (we carry reliable options in our shop).
2. Try a different outlet
Power strips, car chargers and laptop USB ports may not supply enough power. Try a wall outlet.
3. Inspect the port
Shine a light into the charging port. Lint from pockets packs down over time and prevents the cable from seating fully. If you see debris, power off the phone and gently remove it with a wooden toothpick. Never use metal objects.
4. Look for liquid warnings
If your phone shows a “liquid detected” alert, unplug and let it dry. Don’t override the warning. If moisture keeps showing, see our water damage repair page.
5. Restart the phone
A software glitch can stop charging. Force-restart your phone and try again.
6. Try wireless charging
If wireless charging works but cable charging doesn’t, the port is the likely culprit. If neither works, the battery may be failing—see our guide on battery warning signs.
At Telasco Wireless we test with known-good chargers, inspect the port under magnification and only recommend replacement if it’s needed. Often, a professional cleaning is all it takes. Call (818) 937-9696 or stop by 1745 W Glenoaks Blvd, Glendale, CA 91201.
